Holiday Cheer & Gear is an official, Salvation Army Christmas Assistance program. It was created in 2007 to aid an underserved group among the thousands of people who benefit from the Salvation Army during the holiday season.
While thousands of toys and presents were being donated and distributed to young children throughout Greater Richmond, there was a lack of gifts for boys and girls ages 12 to 16.
Holiday Cheer & Gear focuses on collecting new sporting goods to deliver to that neglected group of young boys and girls.
Over the past 3 years, we have collected hundreds of items of sports “gear”. Teen-agers, who in the past would not have received any presents on Christmas Day, now have gifts to open along with their younger siblings and parents.
Holiday Cheer & Gear gladly accepts new, unwrapped sporting goods, equipment and gear. A list of appropriate items is below:
• Basketballs
• Soccer Balls
• Footballs
• Baseballs, bats & gloves
• Tennis balls and racquets
• Volleyballs
• Skateboards
Holiday Cheer & Gear also accepts cash donations, which are used to purchase additional sports equipment.
