 REDSKINS TRAINING CAMP OVERVIEW

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Admission to training camp is free.

WHEN IS IT? On most dates listed, the team will conduct two workouts, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Official times will be released closer to the workouts.

HOW LONG DOES PRACTICE LAST? Most practices last one or two hours.

CAN I GET AUTOGRAPHS? Players and coaches will sign autographs and take photos with fans after every practice session, though because of other obligations, not every player and coach will be available at every session.

WHAT WILL I SEE? The opening weeks of camp are devoted to conditioning and basic football drills. As the season approaches, the team will work on formations and plays. The Redskins invite 90 players to camp, with weekly cuts until the final 53-man roster is announced.

WHERE DO I SIT? There is no seating, so you’ll want to bring a blanket or lawn chair. You may also walk around the practice fields to see players in action.

CAN I TAKE PHOTOS? Still photography is allowed (no video). However, Redskins staff members may request at any time that you cease using those devices.

WILL THERE BE MERCHANDISE? Yes, the Redskins will have a team store on-site with apparel and souvenirs.

CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD, AND WILL ANY BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE? Yes and yes. There will be food and beverage available for purchase, but fans also may bring their own coolers. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

CAN I BRING MY PET? Pets are not allowed, with the exception of certified guide dogs.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO? There will be special events, giveaways and other activities that will be announced as training camp approaches. In addition, various interactive exhibits will be featured in tents located near the Science Museum of Virginia.  The NFL’s youth fitness initiative, Play 60, will have obstacle courses and other activities. The WOW (Women of the Washington Redskins) will also be on hand with events, giveaways and activities geared toward female fans.

ARE THERE ANY RESTROOMS? Yes, restrooms will be available

WHAT LEVEL OF SECURITY IS THERE? All visitors and bags will be subject to screening. Prohibited items include alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons, firearms, glass bottles and video cameras.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING? The team is estimating 100,000 fans each year, with 60 percent of attendees coming from outside the city. The average distance traveled by those fans is estimated at 100 miles. The economic impact is estimated at $8.5 million a year.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN THE REST OF THE YEAR? Bon Secours will use the facility as part of “movin’ mania,” its healthy kids initiative. There will be a full-service sports medicine rehabilitation and men’s health center on the property.  The Redskins Training Center also includes a park, amphitheater and community walking trails. The city is developing plans to make the facility available for youth sports, tournaments and other uses.
